Overview

Glandwr Mill boasts an idyllic location, nestled away in an elevated position beside the Mawddach estuary, less than two miles from Barmouth.

The main house built in Sir Clough Williams-Ellis style presents an elegant yet informal holiday experience. The house combined with the mill cottage and granary in part dating back to the 17th century, are set within magnificent terraced gardens and woodland totalling around 4 � acres. The river Dwynant divides the gardens in two with its ever present gurgle of water. The principal garden and terraces are extensively planted with mature Camellias, Azaleas, Rhododendrons, Maples and Acers, creating truly exceptional colour in both spring and autumn.

A warm welcome awaits you in the main house. Afternoon tea is served in the large south facing first floor lounge. The picture windows provide stunning views of the estuary and the Cader Idris range beyond. It�s a panorama we never tire of due to the ever changing light. In winter with a coal fire burning and snow on the hills it adds yet another dimension.

Breakfast is served on one large table in the ground floor dining room (again with great views), or weather permitting on the terrace. Wherever possible our ingredients are locally sourced and freshly prepared. Our three course dinners include local specialities such as salt marsh lamb and bara brith bread and butter pudding. (sample menus are available on request).

We endeavour to provide our guests with an unforgettable relaxing break in a home from home atmosphere. We are confident this corner of Wales will steal a little of your hearts, the way it stole ours.

 

Accommodation Details

Glandwr Mill house offers two newly refurbished rooms.

Sea Grass

The d�cor in this sumptuous room of soft gold and grey was inspired by the golden grasses of the estuary. This second floor south facing room with stunning views over the Mawddach estuary and the Cader Idris range. This room offers a king size bed and English hand made furniture in a combination of oak and ash. The en suite shower room has an electric shower, heated towel rail and under floor heating.

Moss

The d�cor reflects its name, with accents of green representative of the abundant luscious mosses that abound in the garden. This room is also on the second floor with wonderful ever changing views. Moss is available with a king size bed which can be split to provide two twin beds. The furniture is in a black lacquer finish handmade in England. The en suite bathroom has a full size bath, waterfall shower, slate floor and under floor heating.


Both rooms have Egyptian cotton sheets, goose down duvets, goose down and hollow fibre pillows, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryers, slim line T.V Wi-Fi and iPod dock.

Glandwr mill water is provided by our own bore hole and rainfall permitting heated by our own turbine.

Glandwr Mill is conveniently situated for exploring this beautiful area of North Wales. Situated in the Snowdonia National Park less than two miles along the estuary from Barmouth�s golden, sandy, blue flag beach.

This area of North Wales has plenty to offer everyone. Historic castles, steam railways, walking (for every level), cycling, beautiful gardens, extreme sports and stunning scenery. At Glandwr Mill we will provide you with a wealth of information on the local attractions. We would happily plan an itinerary for you if required.

A three course evening meal is available by prior arrangement at a cost of 25.00 per head.
