Overview

A unique old shepherd's cottage by itself close to the Cuillin Hills. Sleeps a maximum of 5 in the main cottage and 3 in an annex close by but we think that it is best with not too many! Comfortable and very well equipped with an open fire and fully adjustable electric heating it is the perfect place from which to explore the island either on foot, bicycle or by car. sitting-room with multi fuel stove, comfortable chairs, desk, books, puzzles etc.
kitchen with fridge/freezer, two oven electric cooker with ceramic hob, large table and lots of good quality pots, pans crockery etc.

The bothy/annex has three beds and a wash room with wlectric shower, hand basin and chemical toilet.

 

Price Guide:

Prices are very flexible depending both on the time of year and numbers so that it could be as little as �120 for a single person in November or as much as �480 for 8 people at peak times.

 

General Details

The cottage retains its traditional character whilst having been modernised over the years with double glazing, good quality, comfortable beds and new wooden, insulated, lining everywhere but the kitchen. (This is planned for winter 12/13.) The duvets and pillows are of a high standard and there are lots of extra blankets should you need them. All beds are made up for your arrival and the cost of the bed linen is included but towels are an extra. Electricity is not included.You read the meter, calculate the cost and leave the money when you leave. There is no coin meter for either this or the telephone. Mobile reception depends on your network and the landline can be useful. WIFI is free and normally a good speed.

 

Other Information

The Sligachan Hotel is an easy 15 minute walk from the cottage. Many of the hills may be climbed without the need for a car or there are a good many walks directly from the door. For shopping Portree is 9 miles or there is a small shop in Carbost, 8 miles. Fishing is readily available and there is a golf course at Sconser which is much enjoyed.
