Treffynnon is the most luxurious of Pembrokeshire holiday cottages, blessed with mountain and sea views, nestling in the heart of the Pembrokeshire National Park Treffynnon is a traditional, stone-built, mountain cottage with stunning, panoramic views over Newport Bay, Dinas Island and Morfa Head. The house sits above the picturesque town of Newport, on the north-western slopes of Carn Ingli (Angel Mountain) in the Preseli Hills.

 

Accommodation Details

Recently extended and renovated, the furnishings, fittings and decor are to high residential standards with an Aga in the kitchen, wood-burning stove in the living room and under-floor heating throughout.

Treffynnon is a warm and comfortable retreat for year-round holidays and breaks.

Accommodation is available on three floors with 2 double bedrooms and bunkroom and family bathroom on the first floor and low-ceilinged attic room with a double bed a single bed.

The kitchen door opens on to a sheltered and secluded, south-facing patio and lawn, ideal for al fresco breakfasts and lunches. A second patio at the front of the property is an excellent spot to watch spectacular sunsets over the ocean. Garden seating is provided in both areas and a kettle barbecue is available.

There is an adjacent paddock that is shared with the owners of the house, who live next door, that is ideal for hill football, mountain cricket, frisbee and general rushing about.

Ample off-road parking is provided for three cars.

Sorry, no pets and please do not smoke indoors.

General Details

The luxury holiday cottage accommodation comprises on the ground floor:

Y Gegin (The Kitchen) a modern, well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen with AGA, fridge-freezer, dish-washer and microwave oven.

Utility Room, with second large fridge, washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board etc.

WC and washbasin.

The Lounge, with three sofas, dining table and chairs, large LCD HD TV, Sky TV, DVD, and B&W Zeppelin iPod dock sound system.

Two patios, one facing south towards the mountain and a real sun trap and a second on the other side of the house over looking the paddock and sea below.

On the the upper floors are:

The Blue Room a double room with sea views and room for a cot.

The African Room, a double room with sea views.

The Bunk Room, with a pair of hand-built bunks and views over the garden and mountain.

The Bathroom, with bath, shower, WC and wash basin.

And on the top floor:

The Attic, with spectacular views of both the sea and the mountain.

Treffynnon is also fitted out with solar tubes on the roof which pre-heat the domestic hot water and underfloor heating. And recently we have added solar PV panels to generate electricity for our own consumption and to feed into the grid.

 

Other Information

The area around Treffynnon offers lots to see and do for all the family. There is the large expanse of sand and dunes at Traeth Mawr, the smaller Parrog Beach on the estuary and the beautiful and secluded shingle beach at Aberhigian, accessed via a short walk along the Coastal Path.

There is an 18 hole, links golf course, wonderful kayaking around the fabled coast, horse riding, with treks on to Carn Ingli or through the beautiful woods of the Gwaun Valley to the renowned pub - Bessie�s.

If you are after a luxury Pembrokeshire holiday cottage as a base for your walking holiday, then there are miles of paths across the Preselis, starting from right outside the door, ranging from short rambles to full-on day treks. And of course there is the rugged beauty of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, from which you stand a good chance of seeing seals, dolphin and a vast array of birds and wild flowers.
