Overview

Set in mature gardens, Old School House was built in1867 as a school and headmaster's residence, providing education for children from surrounding farms and hamlets. After closing in 1965, it was sympathetically converted into a private dwelling. The Hodgson family have made it their home and will offer you a friendly warm welcome. We are situated perfectly for excursions and explorations in Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. We, as Northumbrians, are passionate about our heritage and all it has to offer and look forward to sharing it with you.

 

Accommodation Details

Tillmouth Suite - complete with it's own private stairs and bathroom the suite is spacious and tastefully furnished to a high standard with king-size bed, beautifully soft bed linen ,fluffy towels and comfy chairs. It is well equipped with hospitality cupboard and home baking, fridge, TV etc. There are many little extras to make your stay more enjoyable.
Podmore Room - A ground floor spacious ensuite single room with 3/4 bed , offering same level of comfort as double suite .

General Details

Our food is all locally sourced, Craster Kippers, Chainbridge Honey, very free range eggs to name a few. All baking is homemade, including preserves. Special diets can be catered for, please mention when booking. Upon arrival, there is complimentary afternoon tea with home baking.

This is an ideal area for walks and cycling, we provide literature and other information about the many routes and destinations within the vicinity and beyond. Personal guided walks within Northumberland and Borders are also available with Noel Hodgson as your guide. Writer,poet and historian, Noel can offer you a special insight into the area, revealing some of it's hidden treasures. Please enquire upon booking.
