ALVA GUESTHOUSE is a welcoming bed and breakfast situated in the small coastal village of Mainsriddle, Southwest Scotland, overlooking the Solway Firth and situated on the A710 between Dumfries and Dalbeattie.

Dalbeattie is 8 miles, Dumfries - 15 miles and Castle Douglas - 16 miles.

We welcome ALL to our EN-SUITE B&B! Walkers, Birdwatchers, Bikers, Cyclists, SINGLE travellers & Vegetarians. RSPB Mersehead, Southerness, Sandyhills, Carsethorn, Rockcliffe, Kippford and New Abbey nearby. We are easy for Threave Castle and Gardens & Loch Ken. We cater for vegetarians and are also Dog- and other Pet-Friendly.

We are ideally located for cyclists visiting both Mabie and Dalbeattie Forests in search of 7 Stanes action ! We welcome and encourage SINGLE travellers to come and stay with us.

With great views to the Cumbrian Lakeland hills, Alva Guesthouse B&B overlooks the Solway Firth and Mersehead Nature Reserve, which has a fabulous visitor centre - Barnacle Geese and the rare Natterjack Toad are highlights.

There are many excellent forest and coastal paths, villages, gardens, golfing, cycling, birdwatching, fishing and mountain biking. Sandy beaches, especially at Sandyhills, are nearby.
