Nut Tree Farm

Wedmore, Somerset

Overview

Nut Tree farm, a 16th Century farmhouse sits in two acres of peaceful semi-wild garden, orchard and woods - there are around 350 trees. The house has many old features - elm beams and doors. We have made it our love, care and duty to restore the house to something approaching how it might have looked way back in time, yet with modern comfort and facilities.

The old floorboards have been replaced with new elm boards and a member of the Somerset Historical Society has commented that we may have the best traditional elm floors in Somerset.

Our breakfast maybe second to none (we are frequently told it is the best) with one of the most extensive menus, including King John gold award winning sausages, real oak smoked or sweet cured bacon, free range eggs, specialty breads, Barrow Hill Preserves. We happily cater for vegetarians and vegans and special diets, with several choices - please ask to see our email menu. Most food is locally sourced, organic where possible. We go the extra miles.

General Details

Nut Tree Farm is situated within an ancient sacred, on the scale of Avebury. Whilst there aren't any of the original stones left standing, the tranquil energy is truly a blissful place to be. We do have our own small stone circle and wood circle too, built by Melvyn with help from like-minded friends and family. A true healing experience to sit in those spaces, and to walk amongst the trees. If you look up Nut Tree Farm on Google Earth you can see on the lay of the land the pattern of the original giant circles.

We are within very easy reach of Wells, Glastonbury, Street and Cheddar, yet well away from the bustle. And then also easy to get to Bath and Bristol, and so many places of immense interest - including many National Trust properties.

Other Information

Nut Tree Farm is also the home Coriander - abstract artist, Razaka - wood sculptor, and Melvyn - internationally renowned artist turner and woodturning instructor. Their work can be seen in the small entrance gallery guest pass through.

We are passionate about protecting the environment. So we have a large and very effective thermal solar system, supplemented by our Stanley woodburning cooker. Two Jotul No.6 wood stoves to heat the house. There are additional heaters when required, so there is never a need to be other than comfortable. We use natural cleaning products wherever possible, which is also safer for you and us.

We regret we are unable to take dogs in the house, as we keep it so for folk with allergies - some folk cannot be in a house where dogs have been even from months ago. we like to help those people.
