We have run this small Bed & Breakfast for ten years and enjoy introducing our guests to the delights of Dorset. Enjoy a relaxing stay in the county that inspired Thomas Hardy to write his novels and poetry. Learn the prehistoric history of Wessex and roam the beautiful countryside where nature is in its element and the bustle of the city is far away.

 

Accommodation Details

We have one double and one twin room, both with enclosed en-suite comprising shower, toilet and wash hand basin. We also have a small child's room which can be taken with either of the main rooms. This room is small and has child friendly decor (Winnie-the-Pooh theme~not Disney.) There is a single bed, bedside table, alarm clock light and chair but no washing facilities so the guest needs to share these with one of the main rooms.

Full occupancy of dble/twin room �30-00 p.p.p.nt.
Single occupancy of dble/twin room �35-00 per night.
Child's rm sharing facilities �8-00 to �15-00 based on age.
Reduction to �28-00 (full) or �32-00 (single) for 3 nights.
Wkly rates frm �25-00 p.nt.

 

General Details

The Glen is a traditionally built eighteenth century stone farm house set in the country some three miles from Shaftesbury and a similar distance from Gillingham. It has been converted and updated to provide a comfortable and welcoming place to stay, ideal for either a one night stop off on your travels or for a touring centre to visit the many delights of Rural Dorset and the surrounding counties. We specialise in providing a warm welcome, a wide choice for your breakfast and advice on making the best of your visit if required.

There are many local attractions in the area including historic houses, beautiful gardens and a number of venues for the younger visitor including Longleat Wildlife Park and Monkey World. Museums in the area include Haynes Motor Museum, Bovington (Tanks) and Yeovilton (Aviation) along with a number of other specialist collections in Salisbury and Dorchester. Walkers will find miles of footpaths and gourmets can indulge their appetites in local food and drink.
