Accommodation Details

Blackthorn Cottage provides self-catering holiday accommodation for two ot three people: it has a double bedroom (with a king-sized double bed or twin beds), an airy light-filled living room, a small sitting / reading room, and a large kitchen. If there are three of you in your party, a third person can be accommodated on a sofa bed in the small sitting room. The cottage has a large and well-equipped farmhouse kitchen with everything that is required for an enjoyable self-catering holiday; a small utility room with sink and washing machine also provides additional cupboard space.
The long hours of daylight that we enjoy here in Northern Ireland in summer can be particularly appreciated in the living room, which has high-level and ground-level windows: light and airy, this room is comfortably furnished and is heated by a large woodburning stove.
The bedroom, which leads off from the kitchen, has a kingsize bed that can be converted into two single beds, as required. An additional sitting/reading room has a sofa bed that can accommodate a third guest.
The bathroom, which has a bath and shower, has underfloor heating.
The holiday cottage is at ground floor level with two steps up into the bedroom and the sitting room.

General Details

The cottage sits in its own tree-lined fruit garden.
In the vicinity of the cottage are our goats and poultry; vegetable beds; a small newly planted orchard; a 20-year-old woodland of broadleaf trees, including willows for basket making, and workshop space. Our next-door neighbours run a small livery business, which means that holiday makers with horses can stay here while their horses are in livery next door.

Apart from being great countryside for riding, it is also excellent for cyclists and walkers. We offer a 10% discount to people who arrive by bicycle or on foot (there is a secure place to store bikes). The cottage is part of the Walkers Welcome scheme and Cyclists Welcome scheme of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.

Other Information
