as we are very flexible.
Three are within a couple of miles of each other - the

Garden Room in nearby Ridlington. Red Roofs is further
south at Hickling and Milestone Barn further north at
Gimmingham.
Four are single storey making it easier for people with
limited mobility. Although Red Roofs does have two

in shower room are on the ground floor.
All cottages are well situated for easy walking,
fishing (both sea and on local lakes), cycling, bird
watching, visiting local gardens (including the famous
East Ruston Old Vicarage gardens) and are only minutes
from sandy beaches and the Norfolk Broads.
Accommodation Details
The Old Piggery - sleeps 6 The Old Piggery is owned and run by us and was converted from an old farm building in 2007/8. It is located next to the old New Barn (it was new once!) and has its own secure, walled and gated barn yard outside. The conversion work has been carefully carried out to a high standard. The furnishings are simple and comfortable and the main living and kitchen areas are open-plan with high beamed ceilings and provide a very adaptable and well equipped living space.
The cottage is on the corner of a quiet lane and surrounded by fields and is at the bottom of a bridle path - Munn's Loke - so you can start an easy walk straight from the back door. A walk to the local pub is about a mile.
The Old Forge - sleeps up to 10 The Old Forge is owned by Sue and Chris Harris but
The Garden Room - sleeps 2 (plus sofa bed) The Garden Room is just off the private drive of The Old Rectory, Ridlington. The Old Rectory is the home of Fiona and Peter Black and The Garden Room is run by Fiona. The location is very tranquil and The Garden Room is an airy, open plan space yet manages also to be very cosy. It is simply decorated and very tastefully furnished.
The formal part of the garden is beautifully planted and beyond that there are areas of managed woodland. Fiona's working labradors are in kennels opposite and her free range hens and guinea fowl roam around the garden. There are wonderful walks from the door onto tracks, quiet lanes and common land and plenty of wildlife in the area. Bicycles can be hired or you can bring your own and they can be safely stored. There is a tennis court and croquet lawn for guest use.
Red Roofs - sleeps up to 8 Red Roofs at Hickling is owned and run by Jane Monteith. It is in a wonderful location, overlooking Hickling Broad and set in a very tranquil and open area down a private lane. The house has a lovely rambling and spacious feel to it, full of bits of family furniture. pictures etc. It is very comfortable and charming.
Along with the house there is a dinghy to sail and the huge grassed and fully enclosed back garden is a great space for dogs and children alike. A top spot for a family holiday. It has the advantage of being within very easy walking distance of the two village pubs, both dog friendly.

The house sleeps 4 (with additional bed arrangements if required) and has a lovely, spacious kitchen diner, large sitting room with wood burning stove, two shower/bathrooms (one ensuite) and has loads of natural light throughout.
Outside there is plenty of parking and fenced grass areas that are safe for dogs. There are views from the house over fields and local heathland and the house isn't overlooked. There are paddocks and stabling available should you wish to bring a horse with you.

General Details
Why come to East Ruston or Hickling or indeed Gimmingham?
Possibly because they are all quiet and unspoilt villages, set in rural Norfolk but on the edge of the Broads, just south of the well known delights of North Norfolk, within easy distance of Norwich and only moments from the coast. They are well placed for sandy beaches, quiet walking, wildlife and bird watching, cycling and with plenty of local attractions the best of all that Norfolk has to offer!
In each village there are many foot and bridle paths and quiet lanes to explore. There are lakes and common areas for walking and wildlife watching, sandy beaches just minutes away from each property and woodland walking too at the ancient Witton Woods - perfect also for bike riding and picnics. The beaches at Cart Gap and Happisburgh are dog friendly all year round. Horsey and Waxham are too and these are the beaches best for seal watching.
Nearby are the market towns of Stalham and North Walsham and the Broads centre of Wroxham. In the immediate area there are wonderful old churches, wildlife areas and fishing lakes. The internationally famous Old Vicarage Gardens is within walking distance of the 3 East Ruston/Ridlington properties. Very worth a visit even if you aren't green fingered.
