Overview
History-lovers, take note - the first mention of Great
Tangley Manor was in the Doomsday Book in 1086, where
it was described as a royal hunting lodge, reputedly
later King Johns. Today it is a magnificent Grade 1
listed, 11th century moated manor house, with a
completely self-contained wing, which comfortably
sleeps 12 adults.
The house is beautifully rural and secluded, surrounded
by fabulous wooded countryside, yet it is only 35
minutes by train from Londons Waterloo, and has all
the amenities of Guildford close by.
The current owners bought the house in 2005, and have
completely refurbished it. The kitchen is a joy to cook
in and has an adjoining breakfast area in an
architect-designed glass conservatory overlooking a
private courtyard. A newly refurbished 40ft heated
indoor pool and tennis court have recently been made
available by arrangement. Although you hire the house
on a self-catering basis, caterers are available
locally if required.
Children are most welcome, but please be aware that
they must be supervised at all times, as the lake, pond
and moat are unfenced.
