Overview

A lovely detached building beautifully restored to provide comfortable accommodation for two couples or a family of four. With one twin and one double bedroom, the sitting area has a wonderful wood burning stove for those chillier evenings. The kitchen area is well equipped with everything you might need for a self catering holiday - indeed the whole cottage is a home from home. There is a shower-room with underfloor heating and heated towel rail. For our disabled guests there are various hand rails in the shower and near the toilet, and as the accommodation is all on one level it is ideal for those who cannot manage stairs. Situated in stunning surroundings the cottage is three and a half miles from the Trossachs Pier where the SS Sir Walter Scott sails regularly up Loch Katrine in high season. The access road to Letter Steading is privately owned, and offers wonderful safe cycling and walking. Enjoy the spectacular scenery around us, with a constant array of visiting birds round the seed and peanut feeders, as well as birds of prey such as sparrowhawks and buzzards. You might even catch a glimpse of our pine martens, red squirrels and otters. and higher on the hill the iconic red deer and its smaller relative, the roe deer.

Accommodation Details

One double bedroom and one twin bedroom, both with beautiful oak furniture.
Open plan living area with wood burning stove, HD TV and Sky satellite. The kitchen is well equipped with electric hob, fan oven, fridge with freezer box, dishwasher. A washing machine is available at the rear of the cottage. Large shower with hand rails, heated towel rail and underfloor heating.
Our 'Wendy House' is a wonderful outdoor room complete with chiminiere - ideal for evenings just watching the sun setting o'er the loch.
There is a gas BBQ on the decking area, or you can cook a steak over the firepit!

A wonderful cottage to relax and unwind - get away from the hurly burly of life and chill out by Loch Katrine.
We provide a CD and DVD collection, and various games, books and puzzles for the when the weather is not so good.
Safe bike storage available if you wish to bring your own.

 

Other Information

Nearby towns of Callander and Aberfoyle are about half an hour's drive away. There are plenty of things to do in the area - Go Ape at the David Marshall Lodge, Go Country on Loch Ard, Blair Drummond Safari Park and Doune Castle to name but a few of the interesting days out in the vicinity. Glasgow and Edinburgh are about an hour and a quarter's drive away.
Or take a trip up to Stronachlacher on the Sir Walter Scott - maybe take your bike on board (these can also be hired from the Pier at Katrinewheelz) and cycle the twelve miles back from Stronachlacher down the single track private road.
