Overview

Originally a cider house serving cider from the front door, the Inn offers cider and draft beers produced predominantly by local micro breweries. We are renowned for our food and take pride in sourcing ingredients locally where possible. From light lunches to hearty three course dinners, our highly talented chef creates fresh, appealing dishes guaranteed to please.

The Inn is full of charming, original features including beams, fireplaces and a bread oven. In winter the candlelit rooms and open fires provide an intimate atmosphere for lunch or dinner. In summer, visitors can enjoy a drink in the delightful garden with views across the village green.

Accommodation Details

Guests love our B & B Accommodation. We have three delightful, cosy rooms with traditional features, accessed up a set of private wooden stairs to the side of the Inn. We have two king-sized doubles and a standard double, each furnished in soft contemporary colours and fabrics. With flat-screen tv, tea and coffee making facilities and a modern ensuite shower or bathroom with fluffy towels, guests will feel at home immediately. Enjoy a delicious breakfast before setting out to explore the area.

General Details

If you're beetling down the A303 to Cornwall, in need of a bite or a bed, this achingly pretty thatched inn, minutes from the Podimore roundabout, is as perfect a refuge as you'll find. What could be better than a home-cooked meal, a pint of Butcombe and a cosy bed? With new enthusiastic landlords in 2011, chef Adam and restaurant manager Cinzia, the Kingsdon Inn, a flower-edged path leading to its cottage door, has a charming single bar with bending beams, an inglenook with a winter fire, and farmhouse chairs at pine tables. At lunch you could tuck into creamy leek and chestnut soup, or roast tarragon chicken with chive mash. At dinner, ham hock terrine with poached egg and mustard dressing and homemade Cornish fishcakes perhaps, or look to the chalkboard for one of Adam's more elaborate specials. Right under the thatch, reached via a novel rooftop walkway, are three gleaming bedrooms behind pine doors, simply kitted out with crisp linen, down duvets, colorful throws on big sleigh beds, painted furniture and smart, slate-floored bathrooms with walk-in showers.

 

Other Information

The Kingsdon Inn is run a Cornish and Italian couple, Adam and Cinza. They have honed their arts of the hospitality trade by working in and running some of England best restaurant sand hotels. Come and join us for a lovely lunch, romantic dinner or relaxing stay.
